Class of 1965
This list of the graduates from the Class of 1965 was compiled from the GLHS 50+ Alumni Association yearly listings of who had passed over the last year at each annual reunion year. We are sure there are others we have missed that need to be added to this list. If you know of any graduates who have passed who are not listed here please email the information, including the year they passed, the date, and for the women their maiden name to:
[email protected] We are only looking "online" for information because we have hundreds of obituaries to research. We realize that there are other resources we could use to look up this information in libraries in electronic or paper format but we do not have the time to dedicate to that. If you have information for someone who has passed please let us know and we will make any changes to information we have previously posted. If we have no other information we will just list “NO INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE” as part of their listing. The obituaries, or other information if it was available for the graduates that have passed, follow the listing. Thank You! |

Harry Eugene Baker Sr.
February 10, 1946 -- November 26, 2023 (Aged 77)
Harry Eugene Baker Sr., of Grand Ledge, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, in Lansing, Michigan. Born on February 10, 1946, to Elmer and Dorothy (Bohr) Baker, Harry was a lifelong resident of Grand Ledge and a proud graduate of the Grand Ledge High School class of 1965. Known for his adventurous spirit, intelligence, and kindness, Harry lived a full life that was characterized by spontaneity and a love for the open road.
Harry's professional life was as dedicated and vibrant as his personal one. He was a respected electrician and an active member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 665. His colleagues admired his dedication, hard work, and the camaraderie he brought to the workplace. His commitment to his craft was a testament to his intelligence and work ethic.
Harry was a spontaneous soul who loved to embark on road trips at a moment's notice. His love for adventure was only matched by his love for his "big boy" toys, specifically, his beloved tractor’s. Harry was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and his sense of adventure was infectious to all who knew him.
Family was at the heart of Harry's life. He is survived by his sons, Gene (Tabatha) Baker and Troy Baker; his granddaughter, Ember Baker; and his brothers, Richard, Daniel, and Steven Baker.
In addition to his immediate family, Harry leaves behind a host of close family friends, including Judy d'Anton, George (Karen) Baxter, Dick and Jim Kempf, and Lenny Walters. These friendships, formed over many years, were a testament to Harry's kind and welcoming nature. His ability to form lasting bonds with those he met was one of his most endearing qualities.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy; his sisters, Sue Baker and Barbara Armstrong; and his brothers, Thomas and Donald Baker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family has entrusted their care to Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, Grand Ledge. For online condolences please visit www.millsfuneral.com

Our Dad was a man with a sense of obligation that created a world of difference. In a world of crowded streets, he had an unspeakable desire of spending his time with the universe God created. He had a relentless knowledge of how to make things grow, and with this knowledge he tracked out his true original course, his longing to inquire the mystery of his heart, as he was witness to the rise and fall of the things he planted in the ground. He had a sense of the greatness of God, he recognized it and consciously accepted it, it was his rock, and it gave his life meaning, through the joys and sorrows of his daily existence, he had many significant moments such as gazing at a tree he had planted, here he had to have felt the grandeur of God, watching how tall a tree could grow and the unfolding of the leaves, it was a signal to our dad that God is not just in heaven but with us, sustaining us and caring for us. He responded to this love, as he was an obedient servant and praised God with the things he grew through Jesus Christ he was redeemed. Ron retired from General Motors. His first experience in which would soon become his career in the automotive industry was at Goodyear and then Oldsmobile in Lansing as a cutter grinder, where he sharpened the cutting edges of tools.
“Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new
strength, they will mount up with wings like
eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will
walk and not become weary.”
Isaiah 40:31
Ron attended Pennway Church of God and the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir, as music mellowed his soul and was his testimony in receiving the gospel. Ron volunteered at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan and the Red Cross. Ron enjoyed singing, planting things, baking and cooking. He was most interested in trees, he especially loved any discussions about them. Amongst the crowded streets, Ron stayed on a path, the path that headed in the direction of his one true self, the path that led him to his Lord and Savior.
Gregory James Hiscock
July 31, 1947 -- December 12, 2020 (Aged 73)
Gregory James Hiscock, age 73 of Lake Montcalm, Six Lakes, beloved husband, loving father, and grandfather passed away Saturday December 12, 2020 in Greenville due to complications from Covid-19 and pneumonia. He was born July 31, 1947 as the only child to James and Arlene Hiscock of Grand Ledge. He was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School, class of 1965, and went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree in Electronics. Greg married Anne Marie Fox of Lansing on November 21, 1969. They had two sons, Daniel James born in 1974 and Jason Michael born in 1979. In his early life, Greg worked on the family farm milking cows. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing as often as he could. He was also very interested in electronics and obtained an Amateur Radio license. He would enjoy both the outdoors and HAM Radio his entire life. After graduating high school, he worked at Vandervoorts Sporting Goods in Lansing as he worked on his Associate’s Degree. Upon graduation he went to work for Troup Electronics, which had him traveling across the country repairing communications equipment. He had a number of great stories from his travels, including assisting a co-worker and friend with a trip across Lake Michigan in a bathtub, and sneaking into a Green Bay Packers/Detroit Lions game using some junk phony electronics “needed by the CBS crew”! Greg would marry Anne, his wife of 51 years, in 1969 and together they took many outdoor trips hunting, fishing, and camping. They bought an old farmhouse in Delta Township (which they would raise a family and live in for almost 30 years), and with the help of family and friends were able to get it fixed up. After 5 years of marriage and adventure they had their first son, Daniel. The same year Dan was born, Greg joined the Delta Township Fire Department as a volunteer fireman. His young family enjoyed camping and fishing trips as often as they could. In 1979 their second son, Jason, was born. The excessive travel had become a burden so Greg hired on as a full time firefighter at DTFD in 1980. Greg continued to work his way up through the fire department and took classes to advance his career. In July of 1983, after many years of camping and outdoor adventures, Greg, Anne, and their young family bought a lake lot with a travel trailer located on Lake Montcalm that would be become their weekend paradise, providing endless family fun. Greg’s background in communications was utilized at DTFD many times as he worked on pagers, radio’s, and even building/repairing the station’s emergency dispatch console along with another EMT/Firefighter in their spare time. Greg received many accolades and awards from both Delta Fire Department and Delta Township. He achieved the rank of Captain and was very proud of his work and his fellow firefighters. Greg’s retirement from Delta Township Fire Department came in 2003 when he, and his wife Anne, built their dream house on the lake lot at Lake Montcalm where their family had spent so many weekends and summers. They enjoyed hosting family, friends, and especially grandkids. Many evenings found them out fishing together on their pontoon. They really found a great group of neighbors around them at Lake Montcalm. Greg would enjoy poker nights once a week while Anne hosted neighborhood coffee as well as dominos and the occasional euchre game. Greg also enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with everything (it was said by his family that he could fix just about anything with the toothpick in his mouth and some duct tape), as well as chatting all over the world with his HAM Radio. Greg is survived by his wife, Anne Hiscock; son, Dan (Michelle) Hiscock of Onstead and grandsons Tristen Hiscock, Braydan Hiscock, and Jace Hiscock; son, Jason (Laura) Hiscock of Rockford and grandsons Thatcher Hiscock and Houghton Hiscock; and also his furry snuggle buddy, Hudson. For the safety of, and concern for, family and friends no services will be held at this time. The family will look to hold a celebration of life memorial in the summer with time and date to be determined.

Judy was always proud of her kids and grandchildren’s accomplishments, and she loved seeing them succeed in everything they do.
Judy loved spending time with her mother and sisters, there was no greater joy in her life then to be surrounded by her family at the lake. You have never laughed so hard in your life then to be around Millie and her daughters when they were all together. The love, laughter, and especially the memories will live on.
